Greetings to all,

As the elected president for the Maine Association of Physician Assistants for the 2016-17 term, I would like to take a minute to welcome you. It is with great honor and humbleness that I have agreed to take on such an integral leadership role within the changing healthcare environment.

Over the last 12 months, an exceptional amount of positive change has occurred in favor of Physician Assistant practice on both a national and state level. MEAPA has worked along side the AAPA, Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine, and the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure in favor of improving practice rules for Physician Assistants within all disciplines. I encourage each of you to take a minute to review the Maine Chapter 2 rules and AAPA national practice recommendations as they make their way through legislative bodies over the coming months.

This is a year for continued opportunity; a year to improve PA practice resources state wide, generate volunteer opportunities centered around public health efforts, and indulge in PA community development. Over the next 12 months, I ask current members to inspire one of their colleagues to join MEAPA and consider reaching out for opportunities to become involved with MEAPA sponsored events.

I look forward to working with many of you more closely over the next year. Thank you for your continued service to the people of Maine.

Stephanie Podolski
